Hydroponics in Punjab
The state that grows the most is also the one being asked hardest to grow differently.
Punjab's problem is not productivity. It is that the paddy-wheat cycle that produced the productivity is drawing groundwater down faster than it comes back, and diversification into higher-value crops is the answer being pushed from every direction. Protected cultivation is one of the few routes that raises the return per acre far enough to make the switch worth a farmer's while - and a recirculating system is the version of it that uses the least water.

The crops worth the structure in Punjab
Not everything is worth growing without soil. These are the ones where the return justifies the system, and where the local market is already asking for them.

Parthenocarpic cucumber
The crop Punjab polyhouses are already full of, and with good reason: it sets fruit without pollination, crops fast, and there is an established market that knows what to do with it.

Coloured capsicum
The other proven protected crop here. Dutch buckets, trained and picked over a long season, into a market that pays a premium over green.

Lettuce and broccoli
Punjab winters are genuinely cool, which suits both. The constraint is light through the December and January fog rather than temperature.

Strawberry and cherry tomato
Both already grown in the state and both suited to table-top or bucket systems, where the fruit stays clean and picking is not back-breaking.

A structure has to survive both ends of the year
Forty-five degrees in June and close to freezing in January is a wide range to ask one cover to handle. That means real ventilation area and shade net for the summer, and enough thermal sense in the design that the winter crop is not lost - rather than a structure optimised for one season and fought through the other.
Winter fog is a light problem
Through late December and January the fog can hold on for days. It affects what will crop in those weeks and it is worth planning the calendar around rather than being surprised by.

Being straight about this: we are a Maharashtra manufacturer, not a Punjab one. Systems are made in Katraj and freighted, which works well for channels, buckets, media and nutrients. If you want a structure built as well, say so early - that is quoted per site and the travel is part of the conversation.
